LOS ANGELES, CA – November 5, 2003
–
Underscoring its continuing commitment to educational outreach by providing
affordable, world-class theater – Geffen Playhouse proudly presents the
nationally acclaimed childrenÕs music production – RalphÕs World. A special engagement
from GeffenÕs
family theater series, ÒThe Saturday Scene,Ó RalphÕs World will be performed on

22, from 11 a.m. to noon. Admission is $6 for adults and $2 for children. Following the performance, kids and

Featuring contemporary and hip performances of
childrenÕs music with a rock-n-roll edge, RalphÕs World is the creation of
celebrated childrenÕs musician and songwriter, Ralph Covert. In addition to
numerous other awards, Covert has been Amazon.comÕs number one childrenÕs
artist for the past year. CovertÕs RalphÕs World has received accolades
from local and national press. Billboard Magazine hailed the RalphÕs
World
DVD "one of the finest kids' audio releases of this or any year" and Family
Fun Magazine recently called Covert
Òone of our finest childrenÕs musicians.Ó
The GeffenÕs 2003-2004 season continues with the Los Angeles premiere of Sandra Tsing LohÕs Sugar Plum Fairy (November 11-December 21, 2003), a thoroughly original holiday treat for adults and children (ages 12 and up). Loh wrote and stars in this one-woman show about an awkward 12-year old girl who dreams of starring in her dance schoolÕs production of The Nutcracker. This wildly imaginative and wonderfully offbeat story recalls the cruel and competitive, yet amazing experience of childhood. Next in the season is Los Angeles playwright Bryan DavidsonÕs upcoming production of War Music (January 13-February 22, 2004), three musically-driven playlets based upon dramatic events in the lives of composers Frank Bridge, Anton Webern, and Olivier Messiaen. The fourth production of the GeffenÕs season is The Underpants (March 9-April 18, 2004), comic genius Steve MartinÕs hilarious adaptation of Carl SternheimÕs 1910 German farce Die Hose. The season closes with a new play, directed by Gil Cates, to be announced at a later date.
The Geffen Playhouse is located at 10886 Le Conte Avenue in Westwood Village. Visit the Geffen website at www.geffenplayhouse.com. For ticket information, please call the Geffen Playhouse box office at (310) 208-5454.
